Dashboards

Dashboards are a new kind of page in Curbcut Studio. A dashboard puts maps and charts from several of your indicator pages side by side on one grid. You can publish it as a link that your stakeholders can open in their browser.

Build a dashboard

Create a dashboard from "New page" and fill it with widgets from any of your indicator pages. For a housing needs assessment, you might put the map of average rent beside its trend, and vacancy by bedroom type beside housing starts. Click an empty space to add a widget there. Drag a widget by its grip to move it. To resize widgets, drag an edge or the gap between two of them.

Widgets stay connected to their page

A widget on a dashboard stays connected to the indicator page it came from. If you change that page's indicator or region, every dashboard that uses it updates. So does the published link. City council, a client or your partners see the same figures you do.

Charts sorted by shape

When you add a chart, the list now sorts the indicator's charts by how they look. For vacancy rate, "Bars" holds the distribution across municipalities and the breakdown by bedroom type, "Line" holds the trend over time, and "Area" the trend by category. A chart that the page can't show yet stays in the list, greyed out, with the reason listed. A scatter plot, for example, needs a second indicator to compare with. "Auto chart" follows the page's main chart.

Charts as widgets

Charts are now widgets, like the map and the table. Add one to an indicator page and set it up from its "…" menu. Everyone who opens the project sees it the way you left it.

Settings for each chart

Under "Graph settings" in a chart widget's "…" menu, you can switch to a logarithmic axis, hide outliers or limit the range of years. The settings are saved with the page. If changing the page's indicator would leave a chart with nothing to show, Curbcut Studio asks before making the change.

A clearer legend for two indicators

When you compare two indicators, the legend is now a three-by-three grid with an axis for each indicator and the values where its colours change. It fits in the side panel and stays readable when the map is printed.

Widgets on indicator pages

Indicator pages are now built from widgets. You choose which ones a page shows and in what order. A page for a housing brief can open on the data table. A page for a quick look at a trend can open on the chart.

Switch a widget's view

In a widget's "…" menu, "Show as" turns it into another view of the same indicator. The map of average rent can become its data table, a few sentences of insights, or a chart of its trend. Each widget keeps its own settings. "Set as active" moves a widget into the page's main view.

Arrange the panel

"Add widget" at the bottom of the panel adds one. Move widgets up or down to put the most useful view first. Remove the ones that a page doesn't need. The page keeps its layout for everyone who opens the project.

All of an indicator's charts in the side panel

Open an indicator and the side panel now holds all of its charts, where it used to show one. For average rent in Montréal, that means the trend since the early 1990s, the rent for each number of bedrooms, and how the municipalities compare. The arrows above the chart step from one to the next. When you're writing a neighbourhood profile, you can see how a place compares with the region, and how it got there, without leaving the map.

Three charts of average rent in Montréal. The trend rises from about $450 in the early 1990s to about $1,300 in 2025. The breakdown shows rent going up with each bedroom, from studios to 3+ bedrooms. The distribution ranks the municipalities from under $1,000 to over $2,000.

Click a bar to find the place on the map

Click a bar in the distribution, and the map moves to the municipality that the bar stands for. It shows that municipality's value. If you then change the year or the scale, the chart and the map update together.

A welcome for new users

The first time someone signs in, three short slides show what Curbcut Studio is, the first thing to do, and where to find the "Getting started" checklist. When you invite a colleague, they can find their way without calling you.
